Multimedia Experience

I never really was into the computer much until I began the Multimedia Apps and Tools class. Once the class started, I viewed the web more than ever, learning about all kinds of different things. I was nice to see the outside world that I had never learned before on the web. I would have to say that when it came to my ah-ah moments it was learning about a lot of the articles that we read and posted about. A lot of my OH NO's were when we had to do videos because I was never a video person, but the more I did in this class, the more confident and better at them. I'm still working on making better videos which is a learning curve. I would have to say, I'm now a computer cloud kid, I feel like once someone turns on the computer, you'll see me as a little icon everywhere. Ha! I found out that as a learner I ask a lot of help, and I'm not much for discussions, I'd rather jump right into the projects, blogs, and writing, always been that way, guess it hasn't left me yet. Hopefully it will soon, discussions are what helps others out, it's nice to be able to talk to others. I still see in my future either opening my own business, or working as a wedding planner. Both my dreams and what I see myself hopefully doing in the future. I want to learn more about videos and editing them. It was fun to learn something new. Overall this class was a great experience, I will definitely take everything I learned, and use it more in my life.

Copright laws turing kids into criminals?

I would have to say that Lawrence is wrong in a way because not many kids are turning into criminals. I don't think kids are turning into criminals because they can't take videos or pictures and remix them or edit them. I know some people that aren't turning into criminals because of the copyright laws stopping them from doing what they like to do which is remixing movies, or editing photos. I think that remixing isn't a bad thing, it's just taking something original and remixing it into something better. No one wants to watch a boring video or show when they can remix it and then watch it. Lawrence has a point that no one is really breaking the copyright law when it comes to remixing it to make it spicy and worth watching.

Is it against the law to make a parody of a song? Isn't remixing kinda the same thing? Why aren't people talking about all the song that are being remixed into a parody?

Facebook Generations

After reading the article I would have to say that without online life I wouldn't be able to do my online classes like I do now. Online life is sometimes a better way to get in touch with other around you that you have no other way of communication other than Facebook. Most workplaces are connected to the internet nowadays, so if I can't email or get in any other contact with my reps for my store then I wouldn't have a way to send them a dog food order(for example). It would also be hard for me to go on vacation without online life because basically everything is online now(hotels, travel sites, maps, etc). I'm also the type of person that takes a lot of pictures when I'm on vacation so without my Facebook(where I post most of my pictures), I wouldn't be able to post them until I got home.
One question I have is why are so many people using online as their life now?

Long Tail...

When I watched the video and read the article what popped into my head was not everyone has time to go to the stores and buy what they want, as well as the possibility that the stores won't have it due to limited shelf space. If I could go to the store and know for a fact that my product/s or whatever I wanted to  buy was there, heck I'd go, but because I know or have an idea that it won't be there, then why not jump online and shop. However, when shopping online you get a list of products that other people bought along with the product you're looking at, or a list of other products you could buy, whereas you walk into a store and pick up the product you want without even thinking about what else you could buy with that product, or even what other people bought online. This applies to me and the world because everyone has the choice to go into a store or shop online without that choice people wouldn't be using the internet and seeing what is going on in the online world.

Podcasting seems fun!

When I was listening to the first episode in podcast for dummies was pretty informational. It talked more about editing which made sense because when taping your voice or even video taping yourself, if you're nervous you're going to stutter, or make noises you don't want in your podcast. He gave a lot of information that I can use when it comes to me making my podcast. When it comes to podcasting, it's better to be economically reasonable to use what you have already, instead of going out and buying everything.

You're basic steps to making a podcast are to plan, produce, publish, promote. Planning is the biggest part of podcasting because it sets you up for what you want to do, but the real question is, "What's your topic?" That's all part of planning your podcast. Once you've picked your topic, you can start to produce your podcast by hitting the record button and away you go. Once you're done producing your podcast you can now publish it for people to hear, you can do it as an MP3 file, or even uploading it. Once your podcast is uploaded and ready for people to hear, why don't you promote it, get more people to go listen to it. Make your podcast be heard.

PowerPoint? Magical? No way!

Watching Hans Rosling's PowerPoint presentation, I was very surprised at the ways he presented his information. He did a really good job, the graphs were understanding and he really explained them in a way that you wouldn't forget. His presentation is the only one i've seen where I actually didn't get bored during it. I was into his presentation the whole time. not only because of what it was mainly about, but how he was explaining the different reasons about our countries and the changes that were or are being made. When he brings up the Child Mortality within the countries, he tells the crowd not to panic and he'll help them get through the graph, it was difficult to understand at first glace, but as he explained it, it was easy to understand. He made his presentation unique which is what makes a good presentation. Any information you can get makes for a better presentation. Setting it up in a way that you can explain it to others so they can understand is even better.

Kindle talks?

It's hard to explain what exactly I think about the voice over Kindle because I have a Kindle fire, doesn't read to me, but it's nice to use when I want to use it. I would have to say that the voice reading to you part isn't my ideal thought at first, but once you actually get it and listen to it, I bet it's nice because then you don't have to read out loud yourself or read silently. But again, I honestly think it's an odd thing. Would you think a Kindle would ever be able to read to you? I feel as though it's a waste of money because why have something that reads to you when in school you are taught to read out loud or silently? I feel like technology now is starting to move people more into it rather than letting the schools teach them right. I have not heard of a lawsuit, but it really wouldn't surprise me if there was one because technology seems to be pushing its way into the eye of the kids. I don't think there really has to be a lawsuit, but why make technology that can talk for you while reading now? This is kind of a start to technology take over to me. What about playing movies on iPhones? Where is the lawsuit for that? What if I purchased a book online and it read aloud to me, where is the lawsuit for that? I feel like every new technology that's being made nowadays is becoming more and more copyright, it's like no one cares, they just want the money for the products sold. Technology is becoming a bit more ridiculous in a way.

Is Creative Commons bad for Copyright?

While skimming through the articles I read some interesting stuff. The whole Obama picture copyright was pretty cool. You can track most people on Google images because of certain social networking sites. Most sites will let your pictures open to the world, meaning Google images. When someone found Obama's original picture on Google images, it's amazing how it was copyright already. That being said, other people probably found photos on Google images of famous people and edited their photos. Do you think it's right to take someone else's photo and edit it? Honestly, if it's not a picture of me, or someone in my family, I'm not going to edit it. It would be stealing. Now is Creative Commons bad for Copyright? I would have to say that Creative Commons and Copyright are two separate things, but that doesn't mean that Creative Commons is necessarily bad for copyright policy issues. Yes, I skimmed through the other articles, but the fact that someone can take a picture off Google images and edit it, was pretty interesting to me. Does that mean if someone found my picture on Google images, they can edit it? Or does it HAVE to be a copyright picture?

iPhone Photography

While checking out all the links for this weeks blog assignment, I was more interested in the iPhoneArt.com link because I thought it was pretty cool that you can take your pictures and upload them to that site. I never thought you could do something like that except to post them to a social networking site like Facebook, or Myspace. With all this new iPhone Photography apps I would have to say that the art world in general would disappear, and people would use the smartphones more for art projects. Schools now a days are using iPads for kids to take home and do homework on, that gives students a good learning experience and they can use their iPad for an art project if they have one. I feel as though technology is taking over the world, slowly at times, but eventually there will be a lot of changes with technology and real world. Photography is becoming more tech savvy, and I think it will continue to grow because there are a lot of people out there that love photography. I would recommend iPhoneArt.com to anyone that needs a place to share photos and art. I am what you can a iPhone Photography lover, I love taking pictures, no matter how they look, if it's a cow in the field with the sun in the background, I'll snap a picture of it. I love photography, although I'm not going to school for it, I still love taking pictures. Have you ever experienced a time in your life where you've gone from loving taking pictures to it's boring? Or are you a photography lover? why or why not?

Week 4 - Creative Common

Creative commons develops, supports, and stewards legal and technical infrastructure that maximizes digital creativity, sharing, and innovation. Creative Commons vision is realizing the full potential of the Internet to drive a new era of development, growth, and productivity. CC gives you flexibility, and protects the people who use your work, so they don’t have to worry about copyright infringement. CC has hundreds of millions of works such as songs, videos, scientific, and academic material, and it's all free to the public. Copyright was created long before the emergence of the Internet, and can make it hard to legally perform actions we take for granted on the network: copy, paste, edit source, and post to the Web. The default setting of copyright law requires all of these actions to have explicit permission, granted in advance, whether you’re an artist, teacher, scientist, librarian, policymaker, or just a regular user. To achieve the vision of universal access, someone needed to provide a free, public, and standardized infrastructure. That someone was Creative Commons. CC's tools give everyone from individual creators to large companies, and large institutions a simple, and standardized way to keep their copyright while allowing certain uses of their work. Now my question for you is, Is Creative Commons bad for Copyright? Why or why not?

Kevin Kelly Video and the internet

When I was listening to Kevin Kelly, what struck out to me the most was how he talked about how the internet is doubling every year. It's nice to know that the internet is doubling every year. I can see that the internet is getting better every year. Although how is the internet improving every year? The internet is codependent so the more there is on it the better it gets. I honestly don't think the internet can get any better than it already is. There's so much to do on the internet now then there was when I was little. Kevin Kelly has made some good points about the internet, but what if the internet crashes? What would you do without the internet?

In the Cloud or not?

My presence in the cloud isn't part of my life much because I'm always working. Although, when I was younger, I was always in the cloud. I connected to Facebook, Myspace, and Meetme(used to be myyearbook). I am still connected to Facebook now, but I have also connected with Pinterest, and Instagram. I use those the most, but in my spare time I'm usually working or hanging with my boyfriend. I am a fan of Google sad, but true. I use Google as much as I can no matter where I am. I do mostly use the web to do online shopping, now I'm the type of person that loves shopping on the web, getting deals when I can and looking at new arrivals without driving to the store itself. I'm not in the "Don't spend much anymore" phase, so my boyfriend and I can buy a house when we are ready. There's a lot you can do on the web now a days, if you want the weather you can look that up on the web, if you want to know local or world news you can search the web for that. Honestly, the web has become pretty popular because there's always something you can do on the web. When I wasn't into the web I would do other stuff, but now that the web is somewhat part of my life I can see why lots of people talk about it. It may not be something you'll want your toddlers to start getting into, but as they grow up they will learn the steps just like me and other people. The web may seem hard at first, but it's worth getting to know, it could have all your answers. Five years ago I was on the web all the time, now I  know how to spare my time by spending time with others while having some spare time to search the lovely web. I used to be more into IMing and emailing, but now it's texting, Skype, facetime, and Facebook.

In the online Multimedia Apps and Tools Online class, I would like to learn about all the different technology that most teens are using these days. I want to learn more about what I can do on a computer, what I can make, and how to do it. What makes me nervous about taking a tech course online? Well, I'm a shy person at times, so when I hear that I have to use a video recorder or a microphone for an online class, I tend to freak out. I know most classes required it, but I get nervous to the point where I get out of the class. That's the way I've been all my life, I've come out of it a little, but there are those times that come right back to me out of the blue. This is not my first online class, I have taken lots of online classes because I work full time and don't have much time to leave work for a face to face class. The only technology that I have is more from Microsoft Office(Word, PowerPoint, Excel), but in my business class that I took my junior and senior year I have learned how to make a website. I have never blogged before, nor have I read them, I don't have much free time and when I do have free time, I'm not on my computer much.
